Holy3 art exhibition
One seraph cried out to the other
HOLY HOLY HOLY
is God: earth is filled up with God’s glory
And the frame of the door of the temple shook
with the sound of their voices
and the place was full of smoke. (adapted from Isaiah 6)
After Black Saturday, the prophet Isaiah’s ancient words of fiery destruction disturb and unsettle us. The urgent call of the holy God cleanses and provokes a burning response: “I’m here, send me.â€Â We have seen this in the outflow of compassion in our community and across the church.
Imagining the Holy Saturday 4th April, 2.00 – 5.00 pm at the Centre for Theology and Ministry
Would you like to explore the theme of holiness through artmaking? Artists are invited to attend Imagining the Holy, an afternoon of reflection, responding with a choice of art materials to the theme of holiness. Sections of the upcoming play, Prophet and Loss, which juxtaposes contemporary stories of workplace loss against the words of the ancient prophet Isaiah, will be read. Coffee, conversation and cake will definitely help the creative juices flow. You might be inspired to continue working on your idea because the afternoon is planned as creative development for Holy3, an art exhibition to be held here at the Centre for Theology and Ministry 10 June – 31 July and launched during Wisdom’s Feast. Artists are invited to submit artworks on the theme for selection by a curatorial panel. Entries close on 15 May, 2009, but get your expression of interest in now, even if you are not sure exactly what your artwork will be.
